After the wash portion of the cycle, the washer will start to fill with water and will not stop. It will fill to about 1/3 full then it drains as fast as the water comes in until you turn off the machine or advance timer. After advancing the time, the machine continues through the cycle. Is this a timer issue or a sensor problem? I am visiting family and do not have any meters, etc to do a though check but enough tools to replace parts as necessary. Thanks

If it will go completely through the wash cycle (fill, agitate, drain, spin) then the problem is likely with the timer. Replace it and see if that fixes your problem.
