Ken,
I have changed the Outer Tub Bearings and the Spinner Support bearings on my Series 10 Machine FAV6800A. See this post where I helped a couple of owners thru the process; FAV6800A/FAV9800A Outer Tub bearing replacement

These were series 10 and 11 machines. The Outer tub design in these two machines and my Series 10 used an Upper bearing ring with the Clutch Pulley configuration. This made the replacement of the Outer Tub bearings straight forward. Two 6207-2RS bearings just look for best price. I spent somewhere around $12 to $15 for two delivered to the house. Punch out the old and pound in the new. These two owners also did as I did and replaced the Spinner Support bearings.

You need to check your machine and see if your machine uses the Upper bearing ring. You have to pull the front cover off and inspect. Also the first two digits of your machines serial number is the Series of your machine. If you can pass that info along from your machine.

I’ll post a pic of Clutch Pulleys from a Series 10 machine on the left and a Series 16 machine on the right. The Series 16 machine did not use the Upper Bearing One-Way Roller Clutch bearing ring and because of that has a slightly different Outer Tub design.

What’s the current price of the Outer Tub…… $450 range. I would go the Outer Tub re-build route in a heartbeat. Pick a pair of 6207-2RS bearings Tub Seal and Tranny O-ring maybe $40 range. If you need to throw in a Clutch Pulley p/n 25001169 I can find for less than $80.

If your FAV6800A has the Clutch Pulley configuration with no Upper Bearing ring then we need to discuss what the next step is. Remove the front panel to inspect and comment back on what you find.

Read thru the thread FAV6800A/FAV9800A Outer Tub bearing replacement and see what you think……..Dick

Hello Dick.
I have a series 16 machine. When I removed the outer tub bearinge there were two upper bearings, 1 sealed, and 1 roller, and 1 lower. Do i replace both uppers with 6002RS ? And what is the supply source for these bearings?

Best Regards
Ken.

Hey Ken,

Did your Clutch Pulley have the upper bearing ring? I need to know that.

The 6002-2RS bearing is agitator shaft bearing at the tranny end of the agitator shaft. The caged bearing is the Clutch Pulley end of the agitator shaft.

You have your Outer Tub out of the machine and you have punched out the Outer Tub Bearing's is that correct?

If we are talking about the Outer Tub bearings did the lower Bearing look like the pic's below?

I have to leave for a bit will revist you response later today......Dick

Hello Dick.
Yes the clutch has the upper bearing, however I have a new clutch. I have allready removed the bearings from the outer tub, and they are in pretty bab shape. The tub is in good shape, I just need to locate a source for the tub bearings. What you are showing in the pictures is exactley what I need , are you able to tell me where I can get them? I will buy a new machine befor spending $480.00 for a new tub. Your help is very appericated.

Best Regards

Ken.

Hey Ken,

You caught me at the my Lpatop.

Google 6207 2RS Double Sealed Bearing 35mm x 72mm x 17mm

Find best price I see $3. 49 each plus some shipping cost with that search.

Are you going to replace the Spinner Support bearings?

""What you are showing in the pictures is exactley what I need""
Just to clarify the bearing assembly I show in the pics is not the 6207-2RS. That bearing assembly comes from the FAV6800A and FAV9800A that have a Clutch Pulley that does not use the Upper One-Way bearing ring.

You can keep this machine in service for a very long time with the type of low cost rebuild you are doing. Just need to catch that Tub Seal before it takes out everything below it.

I find a lot of used parts out there if you ever need a Control Board, Console, Motor Controller, etc.

Good Luck……….Dick

Hi Dick.
The clutch for my machine looks like the one on the right in the picture that you sent. When I orderded it, it came with a seperate bearing attached to a white nilon spinner with two tabs on top. A note in the box said to discard this for my machine, seems like a waste.I will order the spinner suport bearing and replace it as I have the machine this far down.

Thanks for your help.

Ken.

Ken,

I miss understood. I thought your machine used the Upper Bearing ring above the clutch pulley as mounted on your replacement.

I have not changed out Outer Tub bearings in a machine with the redesigned Outer Tub. You have that tub if you don't use the Upper Bearing ring. I have mentioned this on other post in this forum but I missed this in your description.

I should have been more tuned in. You can still replace the that Outer Tub bearing that is the one with the intergrated One-Way Roller bearing .........but I have never replaced one of that type.

Please Google this FAV6800AW, SN#15.... top loader Unit is very

Read thru what this forum member had to do to replace I believe the Lower Outer Tub bearing that has the split bearing assembly. There is no bearing part to be found anywhere from what I and the Series 15 owner researched. That owner used the 6207-2RS bearings for both the Lower and Upper Outer Tub bearing . You will read that he had to shim out the Lower Outer Tub Bearing that I believe used that intergrated/split Outer Tub bearing (and if you can confirm) so that the Spinner Nut would torque down properly. Place both bearing side by side and you will see the intergrated bearing is thicker then your original 6207 DU Upper Outer tub bearing.

I would like to stay with you on your rebuild if you decide to go forward......... Dick

This post thru me off ""Yes the clutch has the upper bearing"" I thought you were saying the Clutch Pulley in your machine used the Upper Bearing ring that sits above the Clutch Pulley. Again I was not tuned to your post #4 that was my fault.

Again Google the fix for an Outer Tub design that you have
""FAV6800AW, SN#15.... top loader Unit is very""

If you have trouble fiding that post PM me and I will give you the direct link. If you don't mind can you post your work efforts on your machine. I feel you will have no problem after you review the post that deals with your Clutch Pulley setup........... Dick

Hi Dick.
So what I think I have read, and what you are asying is that I will need 3 of the 6207 bearings, 1ea for the upper, and 2ea for the lower, and that I will need to shim the lower bearings to compensate for the thickness of the original lower bearing? I can do that, just want to order proper parts and conferm that this is the solution. Do you have # for spinner supprot bearing?

Thanks.

Ken.
