I'm having problems with my Maytag Neptune TL washer not spinning. Clothes are coming out wet. A repair man ran diagnostics and determined it was the motor - a $450 repair. I purchased a used one for $40 and replaced it myself. Still having same problem. The error code is 84-TDS. Haven't found that code anywhere online or in the manual. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

I feel he is qouting you an Outer Tub replacement.

I feel most repair folks have limited hands on knowledge of the FAV9800A and FAV6800A TL’s which had a very short production run. And for warranty purpose they have to replace the Whole Outer Tub.

The Motor has a 10 yr warranty and I feel is bullet proof for the most part.

Can you pass along the 1st two digits of your Serial Number on the s/n model number tag on the right rear of the console? That will tell me the Clutch Pulley/Outer Tub design.

I have a lot of hand scratched Service Notes and pics I have taken to support DIY repair.

I find for the most part the machine is extremely easy to repair. A couple DIY owners are doing Outer Tub Bearing rebuilds of this machine on this forum with solid success. I feel this is the most difficult issue on the machine to deal with and they have smoothly completed.
