I ordered a stem repair Kit for a maytag LAT8426AAE top loading washer and i do not know how or which way the boot is installed under the stem,can you help? Can you tell me which way is up?

I believe the top of the boot is a flat bearing type surface that mates with the screw on collar. You can go to the web site www.applianceaid.com for verification on this "dependable care" washer and detailed info.
