Interesting problem. If you are getting warm/warm then the cold and hot valves are opening, so the CCU may be the problem. However, it is an expensive part, and you might want to consider living with the problem.
One work around may be to shut off the hot water valve. This should then give you cold/cold. Not an elegant solution, but cost free.

Thanks...I tried shutting off the hot water valve and the washer goes into a fault mode and will not run, so I can't trick it that way.
Which leads me to believe that it can tell the difference between the hot and cold water. So maybe another trick?
Just thinking out loud here but since the diagnostic test checked both the hot valve fill and the cold valve fill (tested ok) would it be reasonable to think that the temperature sensor is bad?
It seems like that is not checked during the diagnostic....I am sure it would be cheaper than the CCU to try and it change anyway.

Actually the washer is filling with the correct temp for each selection on the "first fill" which lasts about ten seconds or so, then when it goes into a "main fill" hot water fills the rest of the cycle, but then it rinses with cold?
With oil at $3.50 a gallon this is making me cringe!

Well hard to tell because there is no way to test the sensor, but try replacing the heating element/temp sensor. Also check the wiring back from the sensor connection to the CCU, that could be a problem.
If you order from this site and the part does not fix the problem you can return it. See the returns pollicy for details and conditions.
Good luck, let us know what you do and how it turns out.

Will do thanks..seems like a quick fix and cheap to try before replacing the CCU. It seems like all selections start off correct, then the hot water is added. I'll look at the wiring first.
The temp sensor looks very common for a lot of machines.
Mine has a heating element any trick to getting the sensor out without taking apart the whole machine :)

If you will post a model number I will try to link you to a repair manual.

No, as we said, since both valves were opening for the warm operation it was likely not the valves.
See if you can use the info in the service manual to test the sensor and the heating element.
