Turn the spin basket, if you feel roughness, you have bad inner and outer bearings. For a Maytag, I would consider getting it fixed, but it will be expensive to have someone do it.
I would consider replacing it with a good Whirlpool direct drive washer. I give the following reasons.
True cost of using a front loader washer compared to a top loader
Positives:
They do get more water out of the clothes.
A recent study shows they save about $48 a year in energy
They are not as rough on cloths, they last longer
Negatives:
It takes longer to wash the clothes partially canceling the energy savings
During the only six year life span, they cost much more to maintain/repair
You will need to save up at least $200/ yr to cover cost of new unit
Price over $1200 and good used or scratch and dent ones hard to find
You must use the special laundry detergent
If greasy cloths are common. they do not get them as clean
Most installations in trailers will cause severe vibrations.
