Model: Maytag Neptune
Model No: MAH5500BWW
Serial No: 74960163ZU

Symptom: Significantly loud sound coming from rear of washer during spin cycle. Sound occurs during all operations but is most noticeable during spin cycle.

Diagnosis: Worn Lip Seal bearing

Problem: I ordered a new Lip Seal Kit to replace the bearing. The kit includes installation instructions.

I'm wondering how involved or difficult a job it is to replace the bearing:

1. Do I need a bearing puller?
2. Do I have to dismantle the entire washing machine to take apart the drum to access the 3-armed support?

Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Felix

Maytag will no longer allow access to its technical site, but if you will search the Internet for a repair manual for the Maytag Neptune you should find sites that will allow you to download it for free.

The manual will say it is for the MAH 3000 but your model is discussed in detail at the back.
