Model Number: WMSR3110 Brand: GE Age: More than 10 years
On Friday, it seemed that the tub was suddenly very loose after completing a large load without problem. On Saturday, I read about dampening straps and assumed that one or more were broken. After taking off top and front panels, I was surprised to find that no straps were broken nor were there any signs of any spring damage. In fact, there were no signs of anything being broken. The tub does seem much looser than I remember.
Any ideas? I seem to find lots of information about these GE top loaders -- they certainly must have made a whole bunch of them. There are videos galore, and even tech manuals. Nowhere can I find how to fix something when I can't see something to fix! Ads By Google Related Models |

Is the tub loose or just the spin basket? What I mean is will the spin basket wobble independently from the tub. If so the nut that holds the spin basket is most likely loose also the hub can be broken I have seen this a few times lately. In any case take the agitator out and take the agitator coupling off and you will be able to see if the hub is broken or the nut is loose.
If the spin basket and the tub seem to be tight together then I am with sidfink43 there is something up with the suspension rods. GE Washer Disassembly Guide |

First, let me thank both
sidfink43 and applianceman I ended up having a computer crash (it's always something!) and although I tried to reply a couple of weeks ago, for whatever reason this website was not taking the responses I had. As far as the washer goes, it has been doing loads still (*knock on wood*). Perhaps I just didn't notice the tub being more loose over time compared to when we first purchased the machine. In any case, I now know how to replace the shock dampeners should the need arise! Again, thanks for taking the time to reply. |
