My washer just died a few days ago (I'll be posting another thread about that). A good friend gave me a washer. Said it worked fine but that it would just take time to get up to speed in the spin mode if you put a really big load in it. He's not the kind of guy to fix things so he just bought a new washer.
Unfortunately it got rained on the day before I went to pick it up. The washer fills fine, but doesn't agitate. The timer just runs through the time and then in finishes the drain, spin, etc. So the wash cycle worked last time it was used. I can't really see parts breaking while the machine wasn't in use.
any ideas?
and any ideas on the slipping spin cycle also. I would like to try to guage if the washers worth putting any money into. I'd hate to buy something like a timer only to have a $300 transmission give way in a few days.

First can you verify the model number. It should be a few letters then a few numbers. (like LAT3456LW0)

Nat If that was the case would I hear the motor running at all? when it should be agitating the only noise is a very faint hum/ buzz from behind the controls, and the machine is completly quiet and still.

Since you've had the amana have you been able to any loads? It could be a loose wire or something from moving it.

no. It worked last time my friend used it, but not now. which leads me to believe that it's a loose wire or something of the sorts.

That can happen when appliances are moved, something to check out. Why did they buy a new washer again?
