Washer Repair

The agitator on my washer has become painfully slow. I can hear the (a) motor grinding away, but the agitator is extremely slow. Also, when is drains after the rinse, I have water all over the floor. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Thanks for your reply. Sorry I forgot to get the model number - I'll get that from the machine when I get home this evening
