About 2 months ago i replaced the transmission and the clutch in my maytag neptune FAV6800AWW and also put in a new seal.A weeks ago it broke the belt.I took it appart and found out that the bearings were dry (washed out with water).I loosened up the bearings (greased them up),put a new belt on and everything is working OK beside the fact that it is very noisy and leaking water through the clutch assembly. What can i do?

Sorry to hear of your issues. What is the first two digits of your FAV6800A s/n (Series Number (10 thru 17)? When you replaced the tub seal did you remove old inner sleeve that will normally need to be pried off the Spinner Support shaft? See Pic's. I would not use grease on the One-Way Clutches Needle bearing in the Clutch Hub. I wash with WD-40 then dry/clean with a lint free cloth then re-lube with Slick-50 One Lube. When you replaced the Tranny did you replace the Rubber O-Ring? Why was the Tranny replaced? How did you torque down the Spinner Nut? Did your tub have the notches in it (Series 10 & 11) to use the locking nut and spanner wrench? See Pic. I did a Series 10 Outer Tub bearing replacement, Spinner support agitator shaft bearing replacement upper and lower caged bearing and the Tub Seal/Tranny O-ring replacement with no issues. It was my first tear down so I’m no expert. I did fill the tub with water and let it set for a week (Leak Check) before I reinstalled.........Dick dh1200s attached the following image(s):

I did replace the inner sleeve from the shaft, the o-ring underneath the trans and the clutch assembly.I thought after i did this i would have a brake for a while. That didn"t happen.Anyway, the first 2 digits for S/N are 11.I did use a low torque setting on my impact wrench to tighten it up. I'm sure it was torqued down pretty well. I can not understand why it's leaking.I'm finishing my last load of laundry today (soaking up water with towels) and i'm going to tear it down again and see what i can come up with.I will keep in touch.
