My washing machine is leaking and I can't seem to get the rubber back on the track. Any suggestion?

Often a light coating of grease on the back side will help it slip on.

Also an extra pair of hands may be useful.

I have tried that before, used liquid soap and with a lot of work and sweat I get it back on, but after a few loads it slips off again and I have water all over the floor. Does the rubber ever need to be replaced? It looks like it would be a difficult job since I have trouble just trying to get the bottom part on.

the machine was purchased 11/2002. It still washes good except for this problem. How long do the gallery series front loading washers last? I would think at least more than 10 years, hopefully!

You did not include a model number so I cannot comment.

I would not say that a leaking boot would be the death knell for a washer.
