During the cycle, the washer stopped with water in it. I tried to get it to drain but nothing would happen. When I pressed in the washer door button I could hear a buzzing. I took off the shell and found out the buzzing was coming from the motor. The motor doesn't run when this is happening. The buzzing does stop after a couple of seconds. I then took off the water pump to see if the motor was frozen but I could turn the motor shaft with my hand. Any suggestions??? Thanks for your help.

You may have somethng jammed under the agitator, but more likely something jammed in the transmission or the coupling came apart and is jamming the machine.

See if the coupling is ok, and see if you can use it to turn the transmission. Pull out the transmission and check it for leaks.

The coupling looks fine. I tried turning the tranny and it does turn and the agitator turns as well. Should I get the motor tested? Or do you recommend something else.

Well, the motors on these models almost never fail, and your symptons now indicate a problem with the capacitor, but it almost never fails also.

A few days ago someone posted with the same symptoms and it turned out the capacitor had become disconnected from the motor, which also almost never happens. So I would

1. Check the motor connections and the connections with the capacitor.

2. If they check out, try changing out the capacitor.

3. If it checks out, then maybe it is the motor.

As Sherlock Holmes said, when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever is left, however improbably must the be the trust, although to be fair he never repaired a washer.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out.
