My washing machine leaks under the detergent tray when filling up for the wash cycle but does not leak when filling up for the rinse cycle. I took the bottom front cover and top off and found no evidence of a leak from the hose or drum.

The reason it leaks on the wash cycle is that during the wash cycle water is directed to the detergent dispenser to dispense it into the wash. It does not direct water into the dispenser in the rinse cycle, so no leak then.
All this means that you have a leak in the dispenser itself, or more likely the hose or connections. I know this is hard to find, but it is there.
