KitchenAid Washer not agitating properly
Hello all,
Our KitchenAid Top load washer Model KASW700J stopped agitating. We found a video on youtube on how to remove the agitator bolt. The problem is, the agitator bolt will not come out! We have even tried removing the bolt with a heavy powered drill using an 18V battery. There's pressure when you turn the bolt while holding down the base of the agitor component but the bolt is not turning to come out! Does this mean the bolt is stripped? We really could use some help on this. We cannot afford to buy a new washing machine. Please reply ASAP. Thank you very much!

In some cases, I've had to break up an agitator, or three, carefully, of course.

With more modern tools, dremel, sawzall, etc, I would imagine you could cut the agitator off, and have more access to the bolt and shaft.

Of course anything is possible, the bolt could be cross threaded, but I have not had that experience myself. It's more likely seized to the shaft.

You may want to give the cut out a try, but that's up to you.
