This morning when I got up washer was beeping and all the lights on the display panel were flashing, #38 was flashing in the minutes left on the load. But I didn't have washer on since Sunday it just did all this by itself, I unplugged it when I went to work. Tonight when I plugged it back in it started the same thing again, I held cancel for a while and now it is completely dead, nothing will light even the main control button for type of load. Any insight into what is wrong could it be some time of control board?

Inside the lower service panel are some tech notes that will explain the error code to you and tell you how to put it into test and diagnosis mode.
Unfortunately if the main control is bad, it will not be able to go into diagnosis mode, and you may have to replace it on spec. If you buy from this site and the part does not fix the problem you can return it. See the returns policy for details and conditions.
There does not appear to be an E38 code, if it was E36 then that does indicate a main control board failure.
