Whirlpool calypso won't release brake at end of cycle.
Model Number: gvw9959k-0 Brand:
5 - 10 years
This all started with a Current limit (Cl) fault. As I investigated I found that all of the motors where fine so I went through process of elimination and determined that when I try to spin the brake will not release. so I disassembled drive pulley to make sure nothing was broken there and reassembled and it would finally spin again when I pressed extended spin. so I thought it was fixed and tested a normal wash cycle which was running good up until the final spin cycle to spin the excess water out of the clothes(3 towels i put in for test).
same problem it was trying to spin but could not as the brake was holding it causing a Current limit fault.
Does anyone know what exactly releases and activates the brake on this machine? anything I can focus on looking at to see if it is broken or not?
This is my last ditch effort here if can't figure out the problem I'm just buying a new one tomorrow rather than put anymore time or money into this one.
Thanks for any help.
