I have an Estate washer, direct drive and needed to replace the motor coupler. Not knowing anything about washers, I lowered the gearbox by mistake before I realised it wasn't needed. I replaced the coupler with no problem, when I went to bolt the gearbox back in place, it didn't want to go all the way on the mounting dowels.

After fiddling with it it did go and I re-assembled everything. Now the drum will not turn by hand, and before I power it up and risk breaking something, I wanted to know if not be able to turn the drum is normal, or not?

No a Estate washer you should not be able to turn the drum by hand.

Thanks, how about being able to move the agitator? It will turn freely clockwise, but anti clockwise it is locked solid. Is this correct?

I have removed the agitator, which as it happens, only moves freely the one way and not the other.

However, I think that I should still be able to rotate it both ways once it's connected, as all in essence you are doing is rotating the gearbox and the motore..........or am I wrong?

no it should turn in 1 direction only there are clutches called "Dogs" that will not alow it. Also the bottem part should not turn
