Bosh washer 500 series - how to open and diagnose E13 error

Model Number: 500 Brand: Bosch Age: 1 - 5 years

My washer is 26 months old, meaning manufacturer's warranty expired 2 months ago...
I am getting E13 error and I am fairly certain it is the pump or the circuit controlling the pump.
My first question is how to open it. I see white blanks covering the screws si I am guessing I could gently remove those, undo the screws undenneath ans some at the back then take the top off.
The next question is how to get to the pump ? Flip the washer on the side?
The last question is about troubeshooting tips - how to verify if this is the pump or the controller. I am thinking about just attaching mulimeter to the power connector on the pump and putting it on spin cycle. Voltage on pump=circuit OK, pump bad, no voltage=curcuit bad, pump may be OK.
Then attach 120AC to pump to check if it spins.
Am I on the right track?
