Model Number: LW6153LM Brand: Amana Age: More than 10 years
My Amana washer motor does not run in spin or agitate cycle and and pump is not working. No sound comes from motor in any cycle. I have tested the lid switch for continuity and it passes. I also bypassed the switch using a jumper wire. Still no motor action.
Problem originally began with burning rubber smell and loud squeaking sound. Belt was found to be badly worn and was replaced, but when the new belt was installed it would never engage properly with the pulley. I double-checked the installation and all looked fine. I then found by slightly increasing the tension on the dampener pulley, the belt would engage with the motor pulley. I ran one load this way. The motor worked, but the cycle was out of sync with the timer knob. Subsequently, the motor is silent. I have disconnected the cables several times and wonder if a connection is damaged. I'd love to call a repair man but have no money, so here I am, trying to fix a broken washer myself. Any advice? I do have multimeter and electrical schematic of the washer. Not sure how to use it though. I read the "testing for continuity" FAQ, just don't know what to test. Thanks. Ads By Google Related Models |

Well darn, cause it could be a couple of things. Since your motor will run I don't think that is the problem, but the problem can be in the timer, the connections and the wiring. Try to clean and reseat all the connections and check all the wires for a break or short using a meter.
If all else fails try replacing the timer. If you buy from this site and it does not fix your problem you can return it, see the returns policy for details and conditions.
