Motor started humming, would not spin drum or aggitator. Pulled off front panel, to view the motor. Noticed the motor had spewed out various pieces, ie, springs, and metal chunks. Bought new Maytag motor it came with a new starter installed on top of it. I installed the new motor, put it back together and hooked the hoses up and plugged it up and now the new motor hums. I reached underneath it and gave the belt a boost, it started turning. Now it will only spin the aggitator, at the end of the wash cycle the timmer did advance to next cycle brief pause to spin cycle now the motor won't spin, reached under to give another belt boost, it starts spinning again. Will only spin the aggitator again wash mode only. Will not drain. Timmer will advance but will only allow it to be in wash cycle. Motor stops and will not turn between cycles.

It is hard to tell from your post if you have more than one problem, but I think the major problem is that your motor is not pivoting correctly. This motor moves and the belt tightens, which acts as a clutch. I don't think this is working correctly with your system.
Unfortunately Maytag no longer allows access to its manuals and tech date, but you need to get a manual on this model and make sure you followed directions correctly in replacing the motor.
