the bottom of the tub seems to be where my leak is. how do I remove the tub to get to the seal?

I did not get your model number to come up, but assuming you have a basic Frigidaire top loader here is a service manual that will show you how to change out the seal. This is a fairly common problem with these models, and not a difficult fix if you take your time.
