My washer began leaking 2 year ago at which time a repair tech came and tightened the bolts around the drum. He said at the time that the seals probably needed to be replaced but this was a huge job and he would have to take the whole washer apart. Anyway, we never had any problems until recently when it began leaking again. I tried tightening these bolts myself and it has helped considerably but it still leaks a little right from the joint where the two peices meet. I also noticed that one of the shock absorbers is broken which explains why it vibrates like a helicopter!
Should I replace the shock and hope that will inturn help vibration and hence not leak?? or should I also replace the drum seal or is that really a "huge job" like he said it was

You definately need to replace the shock, the seal should probably also be replaced. It is a bigger job, but can be done as well.

Thank you! I like tackling jobs like that so I'll give it a whirl. Quick question tho, anywhere I could get a manual or some rough instruction guide on replacing the tub seal?

This probably isn't like your model but should give you the jest on how to do the repair, since your washer was made by Frigidaire. If this doesn't come thru send me an email and I'll email the manual to you.

I replaced the tub seal and...HORRAY!!! no more leaks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks...it took me nearly a solid 5 hours on Saturday!!! After I had it all apart I began to wonder if I'd ever get it back together! It was worth it tho. I like tackeling projects like that.

I have had years of experiance on those machines, and takes me 2 1/2 to do that job, so 5 hours for you is pretty darn good.

This internet is amazing. I just started having the same problem and need a new gasket. Any other parts to replace or look out for while dis- assembled. Mine is a Kenmore '02.
