On normal cycle worked fine, on gentle cycle made a clunking noise then shut down and then just a humming noise.

The problem can be a fused contacts in the timer or a bad low/extra low speed motor windings. Remove the timer. Remove the contacts shield and visually inspect the contacts for any burned spots. If there is nothing wrong, replace the motor. - The timer Part number: AP3138878
