Model Number: Simpson 707 Brand: -other- Age: More than 10 years
Just recently the fitting (from hose to tap) broke off because of corrosion. Today I went and bought a new fitting, cut out the old one and put it in along with a new washer. Feeling pretty proud of myself I screwed it back on the tap, started a cycle only to find it wouldn't start. So I started a hot cycle and it worked fine. The problem must be with the cold fill hose then? Prior to the fitting breaking the hose worked fine and was not clogged or anything, so I think it must be to do with the fitting I put on, but it looks exactly the same as the one on the hot water tap.
It seems like there is a small leak in the fitting that I put on because it drips, (only a small amount) but I wouldn't think this would stop the washing machine from filling? Any ideas about what the problem is? I wanted to test if the cold water was flowing into the hose to see if it was a problem with the machine, but I don't see a way to take the hose off of the back of the machine, it's a very old unit and does not screw off like modern ones, and I did not want to cut it off because I see no way to put it back on. Thanks in advance for any help ! Ads By Google Related Models |

I am going to be of limited help because I cannot visualize your problem, but here is what I would suggest.
I assume you cannot easily remove the hose from the tap. If not, I would cut the hose in the middle, making sure you had connectors and clamps to splice it back together. You can now see if the cold water is flowing. I expect it will be so, and you will end up changing the valve assembly but before you do that make sure you are getting power to the valve assembly.
