Good day forumites,

Do it yourselfer with enough knowledge to get me into trouble... The screws that hold my wash tub to the base have sheared off and I am undecided if I will try to remove the screw shanks or if I will just replace the base. To this end, I am uncertain how to remove the agitator coupling. I have removed the top screw, but it does not budge. Obviously, I do not want to damage anything else ... would someone be kind enough to explain what I need to do to remove the hub plate for the tub? Thanks for all your help...

If you have removed the agitator coupling screw, you can take a chisel and split the coupling. Be careful not to damage the agitator shaft. When you have successfully removed the coupling, clean the shaft splines with an awl or similar tool, so the new coupling will easily fit onto it.
