Model Number: WWA8320GAL Brand: GE Age: More than 10 years
An older clothes washer has been maintained with new pump, and new agitator coupling, but now the Gentle Cycle push button doesn't change anything. This older washer has a two speed "clutch" driven directly by the motor, and there is a solenoid that activates when the Gentle Cycle button is pushed in, but nothing changes. It appears that there is something missing between the solenoid's "catch" (part # AP2044599 made by GE), and the actual two speed clutch assembly. The "catch" part is no longer available, and there is no picture of it in the parts database. Can anyone explain what is supposed to happen to change the speed of the washer in the "Gentle" Cycle? Thanks!
