ge can't tell if it's the agitator or something else
Model Number: ge WHRE526OE1WW Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
Hi, my washer fills and empties fine, but the agitator isn't moving during the cycle. When it spins at the end the agitator seems to move. I know this sounds like a dumb question but a single girl needs help!

See if you can move the bottom of the agitator, when the machine is empty and off.

Pull the agitator off. You may be able to thread a tie-down strap under it. You might have to use some force. Be very careful not to let it hit your face once it pops loose. Under it is this agitator coupling. Remove the screw that holds it to the transmission shaft, and it will pull off. Clean the splines of the shaft with a tool like a pen knife or nail file.
The replacement part just goes on the shaft and tighten the screw (not over-tight). The agitator fin will align with the wide spline on the coupler. push down on it until it snaps in place. Part number: AP3964635
