Washer won't spin or agitate
Model Number: 110.24872300 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a top loading, direct drive kenmore washer. When it is supposed to agitate or spin the motor makes a humming sound but it doesn't spin. It will start to spin maybe an inch or two and stops right away. Any suggestions?

Unplug the machine. Remove the motor, but leave the wiring connector attached to it. You'll need to jumper the lid switch. Place the timer in any spin cycle, or wash cycle (if there's water in the tub). Does the motor run?
