It appears that the Direct Drive Coupling has failed. I'm trying to remove the transmission and motor to verify that that is the only problem. I've removed the three bolts holding the trans to the tub support, and I've removed all the hoses. I just can't work the trans loose from washer. Is there something else that I need to do?

You do not have to remove the transmission to replace the coupling. Once the motor is taken off the coupling can be replaced.

You can test the drive components by going to my sticky above, "replacing direct drive washer brake shoes".
