Model Number: GLTF1040AS0 Brand: Frigidaire Age: 5 - 10 years
Washer was at the end of last spin/dry cycle and my wife heard a loud "bang". She ran out and turned the machine off, stopping it. She had to manipulate the dial to get the machine cycle to the end so the front door would open.
I have opened it up and discovered an approximate 2" x 3" piece blown out of the back of the plastic outer drum (rear section, Part #22). What would have caused this? The rear bearing for the inner tub seems OK with only a slightly perceptible looseness to it, not enough to cause the metal ridges that are around the inner drum to hit the back plastic drum. We have noticed some additional vibration and noise over the past couple of months that must have some significance. Lastly, the plastic piece that "blew out" fits perfectly back in the space and I was wondering if their is madness in trying to glue it back. Probably should just go buy a new machine since this part is half the price of one anyhow. Ads By Google Related Models |
