I found out the problem with my washer. The washer would not always spin and sometimes needed a "push" by hand (did this with the door switch jumped) The brake friction pad was broken in half and causing a brake "drag".

Unfortunately, I can only buy a whole new transmission assembly. The part I need is simple-looks like an auto gasket except a little thicker and made out of friction material. Would be a simple repair if the part was available. Oh well...It's a GE! and I've learned what a piece of %$#@! this company makes.

Oh yeah This unit is less than 2 years old. the trans is warranteed for five years, but GE will only provide the new part if a GE serviceman does the work and you pay the labor-yes a complete rip off. Throwing out and vowing never to spend money on another GE product

Thanks. I need a new aluminum nut (1 and 11/16 inch) nut for drum (messed up the old one) Is that also available? What is the part Number for that? This site (link to parts) doesn't recognize my model number . I put in model # S2100E4WW and it doesn't recognize.

Part# for the hub nut WH2x1193... They don't have a breakdown for your machine here, you can go to geappliances.com and get a breakdown of your machine from there.

Thanks
I ordered the parts from AppliancePartsPros. Was it normal for a brake friction (pad)to be broken? I noticed that it had not worn evenly and when you release the brake, it does not seem to release evenly around so a high spot or drag area would be explained. Should the brake release push/release evenly so that there is no drag at all on the brake? Thanks

Not normal for the brake to fail, but things do happen. One thing to look for is the surface where the brake rides on the black platform. If it is painted black, sand it down so the brake has a rough surface to grip. If it's painted that may be why it broke, it got glazed over and brittle.

GE Appliance site doesn't recognize the brake part #WH01x10193. When I ordered the part they switched it to #WH01X10123 (said the first numer was (GEH) number? Just wondering if I'm waiting for the right part.
Thanks

Yes that's the right part, the WH01x10193 crossed over to the WH01x10123. So you ordered the right part.

Thanks for everything. I'm hoping not to have to impact the land fill yet with this GE
