Hi - Our Maytag washer (LAT3500AAE) started making a squeeling noise during the spin cycle. The matched pair is about 10 years old. Used maybe once a week. We smelled something like a part getting hot, could be rubber. I tilted back the washer and inspected the two belts. The looked fine to me, no evidence of pieces flying off. I removed both the belts, which was pretty easy, not too tight, inspected them and put them back on. Washer has not been used since. I tend to think, the problem just started, since we were right there to
turn the washer off when the problem occurred. I called a local repair man, he thought it could be a tub bearing. I printed out your drawing and parts list for
the entire washer, there are lots of bearing and a special tool (spanner?) is required to get at the bearing. So, before replacing bearings (which one?) I thought I would try the Repair Help Forum - help.
Thanks
