Recently our Maytag Performa has started making a grinding noise, I think it is during the spin cycle. Any thoughts on what the problem is and how to fix it?

Check the pump tip washer back against wall remove belt then turn the pump pully by hand and see if there is resistance or it it makes the noise turning it
