My Maytag Performa is about 7 years old and hasn't had any problems until now. This last load that I washed agitated fine but when it went to drain/spin it started making a loud buzzing noise. Now it won't agitate, spin or drain. At least the load that was washing is a small one. I have searched for the model number but it isn't in any of the normal places. All I can find is Maytag Performa oversized capacity plus heavy duty 2 speed motor 10 cycles
Thanks for any ideas on what it will take to fix. I really can't afford a new washer right now. msskatemom

It seems to be fine. Any other ideas? If we can't fix it soon my husband wants to get a new one. I would like to go with the less expensive option. Thanks for your help.

remove the belt close the lid put it in a spin and see if the motor runs..BTW the model number is on the back of control panel or on the lid But we know what you have when you say performa if you got 7 years out of it you did good, a performa is a redesigned norge washer not one that was built to last

The model number is probably on the rear of the control panel.

I had the same problem with the missing model number. I looked in all of the places given by the Maytag website and then in all of the obvious (and less obvious) places. There was no model\serial number tag to be found.
Maytag customer service was no help, even trying to cross reference part numbers that I found on the washer. Eventually I guessed at enough Performa model numbers to find a picture of mine that matched.
Mine ended up being a PAV1000. At least I think so enough to order parts and try the repair (worn out snubber in my case).
