Washer will not spin or agitate. At first I got a grinding sound on the spin cycle but now it sounds like gears just missing. I get the same sound on the agitate cycle. Water fills fine. I believe it will drain but can't say for sure. I can hand turn the agitator. With some difficulty I could turn the drum initially but now I can't turn it at all. The belt appears to be intact.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cecil You need to replace the coupler, and that will do it. Here is a website that will give you a step by step instruction.... How to Replace Whirlpool Washer CouplersTom ww.applianceeducator.com/parts.htm
