Our Maytag Performa is out of balance 85% of the time when in the final spin cycle. During this time we have to readjust the clothes in order to get it to spin smoothly. What parts should I inspect to determine what is causeing this problem?

Remove the front panel and observe the operation during a spin cycle. Put some weight in it, like a load of towels, or jeans. Check to see if there are any disconnected or broken balance springs. Jiggle the top of the tub and listen for a sploshing of the liquid in the balance ring.

The springs are attached and do not appear broken. Where would I find the balance ring? In the diagrams on this site I am not finding one for my particular model.

Also, when observing the spin cycle the tub can move enough and hit the back of the cabinet.

The tub bbalance ring was a mis-speak (got my brands confused). Does the machine vibrate only in spin, or does it vibrate also in agitate?

Just in spin and primarily the last spin cycle.

It may be a worn spin bearing or a tub seal causing the condition. I have a manual available, if you're comfortable with getting me your email address.

I tried to email the file earlier, but it didn't send before it was time to log off at work. I'll send it tomorrow morning.
