Default installing drive belt on GE front loader
Model Number: WBVH6240FWW   Brand: GE   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

Ordered a replacement belt (old one broken) thru appliancepartspros for my washer and it appears the replacement belt is too short. The old belt said hutchison poly.v 7 PJE 1303 and the belt sent to me says 7 PJE 1300. The photo of the belt on the webpage also says 1303 vs. 1300. Customer service says this is the replacement belt but it is next to impossible trying to slip the belt on even while using considerable pressure. I looked at the service manual from appliancejunk and there doesn't appear to be anything technical in removing/replacing this belt. Is this the wrong belt or are there more specific instructions to accomplish this task. Thanks.

I cannot say if you have the wrong belt, but it should "roll on" with not too much difficulty.

If you cannot get it on I would get it back to the supplier and try another supplier.

Red face Exact same problem...however...

I had the exact same problem. Blown belt that needed to be replaced. I also decided on a replacing the pulley as it looked a little suspect in the hub.

I also noticed the switch from PJE 1303 to PJE 1300. I was obviously too short (2-3 inches). I called in and asked and the people at APP told me there was a technical note on the belt. Basically the belt would be 48 inches when new...and about 51 when running. They suggested it would stretch.

So, what the heck, I put it on the motor, put a little muscle into it and had it on in about 5 minutes. Who would have known?

Anyway, it runs like a champ now.

Thanks to this thread I went ahead with using extra muscle but found a little trick. I held the belt in place on the pulley with a cable tie (zip tie) and then put it on the motor. That way I was able to get my fingers out of the way and just rotate the pulley. Worked like a champ. Never would have guessed the belt would stretch that much but it did.

Talking Made an account, just to say thank you!

I've re-ordered this part several times, through a company named Sundberg. Neither myself, or the technician behind the counter, could understand why the new belt was so much shorter.

I have to thank you though, for saving my fingers. Tore them all up trying to slip them onto the motor. I'm going to attack it with a zip tie now.

Just want to add that the zip tie idea worked for me, but I had to use 3 zip ties side by side and make sure they were tight - else the belt would slip as i turned the pulley. and you have to use some muscle to turn the pulley, but sure enough that belt stretches !
