I am replacing the brake pads on my Amana washer. The information I have says to coat the new pads with a little silicone grease. My question is: Do I apply the grease to both sides of the pad where it contacts the brake wheel?

Only one side of the pad wears if you use to much the brake pads wont brake the tub like they should. I wonder when they started doing the grease? we never use to grease them.
