Model Number: MAV8851AWW Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
Problem started when washing machine is set to a cold water setting, water filling tub comes out VERY slowly and a humming cab be heard. Warm and Hot water appear to come out fine, but would say that the Warm setting is hotter then normal since cold isn't dispensing properly. Could this be a water inlet value issue or something else? Any assistance would be greatly appreciate and if you know what the issue is, please provide parts model number. Thanks

Here are your parts.
Replacement parts for MAV8851AWW models | AppliancePartsPros.com Turn off the tap and remove the cold water hose at the machine. Run the cold water into a pail to see if you have adequate flow. If flow is low Some hoses have a screen filter built into the seal at the tap end. Check to see if this is there and clogged. Also hoses can de-laminate internally and restrict the flow. If this is the case replace the hose. If flow is OK Take a look into the water valve on the machine. Valves have a built in screen filter on their input side. Perhaps this is clogged up. If it is clean it. Do not permanently remove it from the valve as it is there to keep crud out of the valve which could hold the valve open and cause a flood. If all the above are OK then odds are that the valve needs replacing.

Thank you very much for the advise, worked like a charm. I have well water and the screen/filter entering the valve had become very blocked with sediment/rock chips. Once I flushed this screen out, reconnected the hose, cold water flow was back to normal. Thank you again, you saved me $$$ by not having to call a repair service.

You are welcome
And thanks for getting back to us. Now when others search for a similar problem they will see what actually worked instead of just suggestions about what could be the cause.
