Hello, I have a Ge clothes washer moddel S3700E4WW. The motor was humming and the clothes basket was not turning but it adds water and removes water just fine. I removed the drive belt and the motor still hums but does not turn, also if i turn the pulley on the bottom of the tub counter clockwise it turns easy, turning it clockwise takes a lot of effort. so are both my motor and transmission bad please help. Thanks in advance. sry I'm not sure about the age of the washer it was in the house when we purchased it.

The counterclockwise direction is the spin mode, and is difficult to turn, this is normal, If your timer is advancing, and doing all the proper operations, and the motor hums, you most likely need the motor, Part number: AP3205861
But there is a very slight possibility you could have a bad contact in the timer as well. Good Luck, :) :) :)

Helpme, You did make sure, you had no loose or damaged wires, didn't you ? You tested the new motor with the belt off ? As I stated in my original post, there was a slight possibility you could have a bad timer contact, That's where we need to go next. Part number: AP3883985
