Hi, need directions installing lid switch (3949247) on a whirlpool (roper) washing machine. I can't remove the panels to access the switch.

Thanks,

George B.

George,

This is not as complicated as it will sound,

Unplug the line/power cord from the outlet,

On the back side of the control panel end caps, you'll find a phillips head screw in each one, remove the screw(s).

Push the control panel assembly towards the front of the washer until the end cap clicks unlock from the top.

Raise the bottom of the control panel front, and allow panel to pivot up and back on the panel hinges.

On the top and under the control panel you will find a metal, spring clip approximately 3/4 inch wide and 3 inches long (one on each side) in the opening closest to the front, you need to insert a flat blade screwdriver and press down and towards the front to release the clips and cabinet.

Slide the cabinet forward a couple of inches and lift up and brace the back portion of the cabinet, so you can access and replace the switch assembly.

Reverse the procedure and test the machine for operation,

Good Luck,

:) :) :)
