I am not sure about the age of the washer. I changed the agitators about 4 months ago and everything has been fine. Today we heard a different noise and it was the motor running but it is not spinning.
From what I can tell look at the breakout it could be a clutch?
What do you think and what ever you suggest is it hard to replace?

Thanks
Darren

You have a Whirlpool washer! If it will not agitate also=bad coupler.
If failed in spin, you may have something caught in the tub or dragging brake shoes. Shine a light in basket and check for stuff, if ok, replace the coupler and turn tranny coupler clockwise till the basket starts to spin. If hard to turn with one hand, you have dragging brake shoes. Post results.

Hi angcal

The first thing I would check is the belt. Replace it if it's worn out.
If there is nothing wrong with the belt then most likely the problem is a bad transmission.

- Here are the break down diagrams for the GE washer Model WPSF4170W0AA

Good luck.
Gene.
