Drive belt smoked and burned out, replaced drive belt and idler pully but smoked again, looks like belt is getting hot during drain cycle, belt stays stationary during darin cycle while motor and pump is turning. Any ideas?

Yes, it agitates and washes, is the belt suppose to stay stationary during the drain cycle?

No it isn't, it sounds like the break isn't disengaging. Remove the belt and try to turn the brake pully manually. One way is the agitate the otherway is spin and should turn the whole transmission.
Here's your parts breakdown, Model ALW430RAW

Fixed the problem with the smoking belt, the brake got stucked, now there is a little leak coming from the shaft, looks like I have to replace the seals next.

Fixed the leak too, the seals were deteriorated and had to buy the whole seal kit. I had to replace the bearings too, machine was too noisy during spin. Looks like water has gotten into the bearings and rusted out.

Hi; Looks like I have the same problem with my Amana ALW780QAW. Can you give me some advice on how you checked the brake and them fixed it? I've already replaced the belt and have the same symptoms during the drain cycle--pump is working, but the belt is not turning...

Thanks!
Mike
