My Neptune has worked well for 12 years but just stopped spinning on spin cycle. The manual states that the door lock must be engaged for the spin cycle to operate. My door lock indicator does not light and the lock is apparently not engaging since I can just pull open the door. Does this indicate that the door lock is broken? Is this a replacement that can be done by a handy homeowner? Thanks!

Mc,

It may be more involved than a bad door latch assembly.

You may have a burnt R11 resistor on the control board, in the control panel,

in which case you'd need a control board and a door lock wax motor.

Yes,

If you're patient and real handy and have basic hand tools, you'll do fine.

Here's a copy of the Service Manual,

http://servicematters.co...ibrary/docs/16010061.pdf

It's not really involved at this point.
Remove the three screws across the back top of the control panel and lean the panel forward from the top and lay on a towel on the top.

The printed circuit board(machine control board) in mounted to the back panel on the right.

When you look at the left 1/3 side of the board, approximately center level, there are two horizontal resistors ( R11 and R75) if those resistors are burnt or that area of the board has any type of damage or discoloration, you can stop there and order the parts I've listed for you.

If you need more help or advice, drop us a line,
:) :) :)
