While it is spining out it is still agitating the clothes. The washer agitates fine during the wash cycle but when it goes into the spin cycle it starts to agitate at the same time it's spinning out. I had to remove the clothes because it did not like doing both cycles at one time. After removing the clothes I was able to turn it back on and drain the water out. While it was spinning out I held the lid switch down and I could see it agitating at the same time. Any ideas as to what would cause this.

Most likely the problem is a bad gear case (aka transmission).

- The part number for the gear case is AP3096209

Here are the break down diagrams for the Roper washer Model RAL5144AW0
