Please help,

I have a Sears bought Whirlpool top load washer that has begun to spin very loud, also makes a sound like rocks clanging around when it starts up and slows down. The inside smells like burnt rubber after.

It now only occasionally spins dry. Everything else seems to work fine (fill-up, agitator, etc)

Also, any advice on safely taking it apart? I have fixed my dryer in the past but, am not experienced in this area. I'd call for help but I'm too broke to hire someone :(

PS - need to go home and look at the model #. Any advice in the mean time is greatly appreciated.
