my washer filled half way up with water then stopped working. humming noise coming from the water valve. wouldthe valve going bad shut the whole washing machine down?

Danny,

No,

A bad fill valve should not shut the machine completely down,

Only the fill and wash cycle , the unit should still drain and spin.

Unless we've got something else wrong.

Did you put the dial in the final drain/spin cycle and see what happened ?

Also , if you need more assistance, please get us a model number off the machine.

:cool: the humming noise was coming from the motor so i took the pump off and found there was a small sock that had been sucked into the pump not allowing the motor to ingage. luckily this was a quick and inexpensive fix. Thanks
