My washer recently started taking forever to fill with cold water (warm & hot flow normally). It also has been filling up (again, very very slowly - like a trickle) for the rinse cycle then stopping before it rinses (not quite full of water). I can manually switch it to finish the cycle. I have been researching & don't think it is the lid switch (clicks & sounds fine opening & shutting). We replaced the water hoses thinking they might be clogged. Do you think it is possibly the water inlet valve causing both of my problems? What is your opinion when I have both issues together? Also - if you think it is the inlet valve - is this something easy to replace (I would need to convince my husband we can replace it ourselves). Thanks, I appreciate any advise.

I think it is your valve assembly, but before replacing it, take it off and clean out the filter screen inside the place the the hose connects. If that does not fix things try replacing the valve set.

It is an easy job, all you have to do is remove the cabinet, and here is a video that will show you how to do that. Note that your console screws may be in the front or back or under trim.

I am also having this problem at my newly purchased house. I thought it was a bad washer, so i bought a new one. Here's my situation. Well water, pressure isnt bad usually. When i remove the cold hose from the rear of the washing machine and turn the valve on, I get great pressure. When i connect it back to the washing machine, its good for a minute or two, then slows back down to a drip. A load sometimes takes over 1.5hrs to complete. Thats if it doesnt stop on the Rinse cycle, to which i just turn the machine off and on and then it continues. This is happening with both the old and BRAND new washer. And yes, i checked the screen filter that is right where the hose connects to the back, there is some "rust" like sediment, but not enough to cause this type of problem.
Someone please help!!!

Well given that the problem exists with two washers, I think your problem is with your well pump. When the hose is off there is no pressure needed to make water flow, but when the hose is connected higher pressure is need to push the water through the valve assembly and into the washer.

Check it out, let us know if that is the problem.

Default You are amazing

Just checked my filter and it was completely clogged! Not the part of the hose thar connected to the washer, but the other end of the hose that attached to the water supply. The hose had its own filter. I cleaned it all out and it works like new! Thanks a million for yoyr advice!! BTW, I googled how to fix it and was directed towards this site. Google is amazing. And so are you!
