Cool Crosley washes but only tries to spin.
Model Number: CW5000W   Brand: Crosley   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

My Crosley washer will not spin in the spin cycle it starts to spin but then stops and just agitates. The lid switch is working because the motor starts in the spin cycle and runs and the tub tries to turn slowly sometimes. It appears to be mechanical problem. Any ideas?

You probably have a bad thrust bearing washer. Will need to install a thrust bearing kit with pulley. Pull front panel off and turn tranny pulley in spin direction, opposite from agitate. If no spin, this confirms bad thrust bearing washer. Go to Appliance repairs, Appliancehelp, Appliances, repairs to dryers washers dishwashers fridges repairs microwaves ge maytag kenmore frigidaire westinghouse inglis, appliance how to take apart information, purchasing an appliance help, model number help, for directions, this is basically a Maytag washer so follow directions for a Maytag.

The thrust assembly, when turned, pushes up a cam on the tranny pulley that releases the brake. If washers wear, the brake does'nt get released.

Wrap a towel around a piece of wood and stick it on top of the agitator, then force down the agitator by closing the lid and putting a toolbox on top.
This should help: Also, pry the shaft down with a flat bladed screwdriver to allow insertion of the C clip.

when reinstall the thrust bearing : the is a plactic peice that goes on after the metal bearing. the pic show the ears pointing toward the agitatotor. is this corect. i put mine with the ears pointing toward the pulley. i was not the one who originally took apart so im not sure which way it came out thanks.
